Antopia is an ant colony strategy game in two halves. On the surface it plays like a real-time strategy game: send workers out to forage, scout through the fog, and fight off beetles, spiders and a rival colony. Underground it is a colony sim: the queen lays, nurses raise the brood, and builders dig the chambers you plan.

What's in the game today

• A campaign of 8 scenarios: hand-made challenges across four regions, from surviving your first spring to defending the mound, stocking up before winter, and destroying a rival nest. Earn up to 3 stars on each.
• Three species, three ways to play: red wood ants farm aphids for honeydew, carpenter ants carve chambers faster and cheaper, harvester ants store seed for hard winters. Unlock new species by destroying a rival colony of them.
• Five castes: workers, soldiers, nurses, builders and scouts, each with its own gestation time and its own job.
• Dig your own nest: plan nurseries, food stores and barracks, and upgrade them as the colony grows.
• Four regions and real seasons: meadow, desert, rainforest and boreal forest. Snow, monsoons and droughts change how much food grows, how fast ants move and how often enemies come.
• Three difficulty starts: an established colony, a young colony, or a lone queen with a handful of nanitics.
• The nuptial flight: raise three young queens and send them off in the right season to win a campaign colony, or play Endless and build as long as you like.
• A guided first-colony tutorial, rebindable keys, save and continue, and half to triple game speed.

What early access means

The core game is complete and playable start to finish, but it is still being tested and tuned. Expect rough edges, balance changes and new content through the testing month. Every update is free to everyone who buys now.

Installing

Windows: unzip, open the folder and run Antopia.exe. If Windows SmartScreen appears, choose More info then Run anyway.

Mac: unzip and drag Antopia to your Applications folder. The first time, right-click (or Control-click) it and choose Open, then Open again. If macOS still blocks it, go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway.
